Vagabondo Burundi Mubuga

The Vagabondo range is a journey into the most extraordinary microlots in the world.

This Burundi single origin coffee is almost entirely produced by small farmers, and much of this small-scale production is of exceptional quality. With its super sweet coffee, clean and often floral, Burundi, every year, gets high SCA scores.

The washing station Mubuga, in Burundi, is the reference point for small coffee farmers in the area. Each farmer has about 250 trees, normally in their backyards, which yields an annual production of about 200-300 kg of drupes. During the harvest season, all the coffee is selectively harvested by hand. In the station, the drupes are floated in small buckets and selected by hand to remove any damaged fruit, little or too ripe.

After sorting, the drupes are transported directly to the drying tables where they dry slowly for 3-4 weeks, during which time the pickers make another check of any defects. A procedure that is repeated even after drying, in the laboratory, where several tests are performed before shipment.
